A very different kind of store....

I took today's photo for the 365 project, playfully titled “Smurf Orgy”, at a very different kind of store.  While out grabbing a quick coffe and pastry for breakfast.

Look inside to see a bit more about Sullivan's Toy Store.

Sullivan's Toy Store, around since 1954, sits at the heart of the Cathedral Heights neighborhood about a 10 minute walk to the Tenleytown Metro, off the corner of Newark St and Wisconsin Ave.

Sullivan's is not your typical corporate toy store, but despite its family ownership you can still find yourself a giant stuffed toy giraffe. A store for children and adults alike, Sullivan's carries everything (from shelf's full of smurfs and animals) dress-up clothes and accessories, books, movies, party supplies, craft projects, and every kind of toy imaginable. There is even an entire section stocked of art supplies for the artists in you.

Sullivan's is a throwback, a disappearing breed of store, in an era of larger, cheaper and uniformity in toys. We go there every time we need to find that special toy for someone special, and encourage anyone needing a toy to visit this unique store.
